Navigating the Australian Student Visa Process

Indian students wishing to pursue higher education in Australia must first secure an Australian student visa; it is a legal requirement, regardless of course length or program duration. International students usually opt for Subclass 500 Visa when applying.

Indian students preparing a visa application should ensure they possess the following documents.

• Confirmation of Enrollment (CoE): This certificate issued by a university or institute upon admission formally recognizes and confirms participation as a registered participant in a course, while also verifying its accreditation by Commonwealth Register of Institutions of Courses (CRICOS).
• Valid Passport: At the time of application, all applicants should possess a passport with at least six months remaining validity. Students whose passports will soon expire can apply for new ones after starting the visa application process and inform both their embassy and account of any changes to their details.
• English Language Proficiency:To ensure eligibility, applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency via tests such as IELTS, OET, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic or CAE.
• Health Checkup and Coverage: Applicants are required to present a good health certificate issued by approved doctors as proof. Furthermore, applicants must hold Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) coverage throughout their program duration.
• Financial Proof: To be considered for admission to an educational program in Australia, applicants must present proof of financial capability that covers tuition fees, living expenses, dependent expenses and return airfare costs - approximately AUD 62,222 for a single student.
